Jakarta’s notoriously horrific traffic conditions are the bane of its many environmental programmes. This effectively crippled their MSW (Municipal Solid Waste) management – tonnes of wastes end up uncollected since compactors and garbage trucks could not operate. At the same time, all the wastes collected at the respective towns and cities’s dumpsites (bank sampah) could not be transported to their landfills. 

The Asher was seen as a viable solution, and eventually became a core component of Sunter Agung’s management of their dumpsites as the mountainous dumpsite that is an eye sore has been cleared up after the Asher has been deployed there. The ashes generated have also become welcomed to nearby organic farmers and private consumers as they have been made into organic fertilizers. 

This entire operations has been supported by the municipal council by launching satellite programmes via campaigns to encourage the Sunter Agung public to collect and send their trash to the Sunter Agung dumpsite.
